From the Editor

Welcome to the second issue of Oceans and Sky.

We are still on a learning curve, and we seek to be inspired and encourage collaboration. In this issue we are bringing you, among others, a story on the visit of the New York City Climate Museum Launch Project on a mid-May afternoon. Miranda Massie, director of the museum, said after the visit,

“It was very inspiring and instructive to see what Initiative Gaia has accomplished at the Museum of Climate Change. We have been reflecting intensively on our visit as we start to make our way back to the United States. So many of your emphases resonated strongly for us: among others, using the museum as a platform for public engagement; sustaining a living institution; interconnecting the local and the global; leveraging interdisciplinarity; showcasing solutions; and providing visitors with an opportunity to articulate a commitment. We were impressed by the initiatives outside the museum, from forums and carbon audits to photo contests within your beautiful campus. And we can’t believe what you have accomplished in such a short time span!”

Some finds inspiration alone, others in collaboration. We look forward to a future of collaboration with friends around the world.
