Mobile Jockey Club MoCC: ‘Climate Change and Me’ Exhibition

The Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change (MoCC) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) launched the ‘Climate Change and Me’ Exhibition of the ‘Mobile Jockey Club MoCC’ today (24 November) at the Temple Mall North in Wong Tai Sin. Officiating at the opening ceremony were Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of CUHK, and Ms Vivian Lee, Senior Charities Manager of The Hong Kong Jockey Club.

The ‘Mobile Jockey Club MoCC’ is one of the major education outreach activities under the ‘JC–CUHK Climate Action’. It is a multimedia-enhanced, interactive exhibition series designed to educate the public on the impact of climate change in an enjoyable and memorable way. Launched in December last year, the first mobile exhibition on the theme ‘Polar Vision’ toured Hong Kong and disseminated climate change and sustainability messages, attracting over 140,000 visitors.

Riding on the success of the first exhibition, the Mobile Jockey Club MoCC is delighted to launch a new exhibition, on the theme ‘Climate Change and Me’, of ‘Mobile Jockey Club MoCC’. The exhibition reveals how we are all connected with climate change. Visitors can explore our connection with climate change through the latest augmented reality (AR) technology, examine the impact of the changing climate through the 3D models produced by the hologram technology, and challenge themselves in interactive games and test their green knowledge.

In his welcoming address, Prof. Fok Tai-fai said, ‘The new “Climate Change and Me” Exhibition reveals how human activities and climate change are closely interlinked, and promotes important green concepts, such as clean energy, a low-carbon lifestyle and sustainable development.’ Prof. Fok also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and Chung Ying Theatre Company for their support to MoCC in its endeavours in implementing environmental education in the community.

MoCC invited the ‘Muse Up! Youth Musical Theatre Troupe’ of Chung Ying Theatre Company to give an eco-drama performance at the opening ceremony. The troupe members, who are local primary and secondary school students, participated in a comprehensive environmental training programme organised by MoCC to increase their knowledge about climate change.
