In support of this strategy, the SDC has set out a long-term vision based on 55 recommendations across eight key areas, namely Target; Lifestyles; Education, Training and Research; Built Environment; Energy; Transport; City Planning and Management; and Finance.

The Sustainable Development Report (SDR) 2020, including the SDG Index and Dashboards, outlines the likely short-term impacts of Covid-19 on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and describes how the SDGs can frame the recovery. The report also tracks progress by countries towards the SDGs. Since its launch in 2016, this annual report has provided the most up-to-date data to track and rank the performance of all UN member states on the SDGs.

The SDR is set to enlighten policymakers and the public on the progress made so far towards achieving the SDGs in each country, and to serve as a catalyst for increased efforts by citizens, governments, businesses, academics, NGOs, donor organizations and other partners to build back better under the SDGs.
