We are surrounded by a culture of consumption that often leads to significant waste, contributing to pollution, resource depletion and climate change. The PB’s Instagreen: Journey to Zero Waste exhibition aims to raise awareness of these issues. The exhibition is co-curated by the CUHK Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change and students from the Master of Arts in Museum Studies programme at HKU, Cindy Shao and Renee Zhang, symbolizing the power of collective climate action. As PB, the MoCC polar bear mascot, shares his zero waste journey on Instagram, visitors will explore global waste management challenges and those specific to Hong Kong. By seeing the world from PB's perspective, this exhibition prompts self-reflection on personal habits and motivates action towards a more sustainable future. |
This exhibition, which focuses on the connections between food and climate change, encourages the community to achieve carbon neutrality in Hong Kong through low-carbon diets. It features the outcomes of a 24-month community engagement project, Environment and Conservation Fund “Easy Climate-Friendly Diet”, supported by the Environment and Conservation Fund of the HKSAR Government. It includes climate-friendly recipes created by 46 “Young Climate Chefs”, students from 10 participating secondary schools, and introduces the “Farm-to-Table Strategy” and principles for practising climate-friendly diet, with the aim of accelerating climate actions.

Art serves as a significant medium that has profoundly influenced human emotions and behaviours. Throughout history, numerous individuals have drawn inspiration from artists and their works, and this inspiration has often helped to transform societal norms and attitudes. This exhibition, timed to coincide with the celebration of the 11th anniversary of the inception of the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change, showcases artworks by 11 artists from Hong Kong. These artworks explore the environmental challenges at the nexus of art and climate change. Each artwork is a heartfelt response to the beauty of the natural world, and conveys the urgent and complex environmental challenges we face together. It invites us to reflect on our own actions and responsibilities in protecting our planet, and to recognize that we each have a role to play. By fostering a deeper understanding of the climate issues affecting us all, these works encourage us to join hands and collaboratively shape a sustainable future for ourselves and for generations to come. Acknowledgement This exhibition is presented by the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. We would like to express our special thanks to the following 11 local Hong Kong artists for creating the artworks and their valuable contributions: Rolland Cheng, Chui Pui Chee, Michelle Fung, Fanson Lam, Cassandra Lau, Joe Li, Elsa Ngai, William Tong, Joe Wong, Margaret Yeung and Sophie Yu.
