[SDG Forum Series 2021/22] Toward Carbon Neutrality: Challenges and Opportunities The world is seeing growing momentum towards carbon neutrality, with all major countries onboard. The stake is extremely high with over US$100 trillion investment needed to achieve net zero emissions. Various sectors are destined to experience fundamental changes in the coming decades to demand a vast number of new infrastructure, while existing, fossil-fuel-based infrastructure may become obsolete. Jobs, money, industries, economies and geopolitics are expected to shift dramatically. Co-organized by CUHK’s Office of University General Education and the Hong Kong Chapter of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN Hong Kong), this Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Forum will have Dr William Yu to talk about the latest climatic disasters and disaster risk reduction strategies. He will also look into the technological innovations for carbon neutrality. Prof. Xu Yuan will explore the massive opportunities and challenges of achieving carbon neutrality. The forum will be conducted in English. Admission is free. All are welcome. Please click here for details. |
